Works on Paper

January 2nd, 2009 2 Comments

Greetings of the New Year to you. Last blog featured paintings with gold; this time it’s “works on paper.” If this seems a commentary on the direction of the economy it’s only coincidental. We think you’ll find these just as special. Also take note of the classes resuming again in our studio, and a “first” for me, a weekend workshop for artists. Annual Studio Show this Weekend

November 5th, 2008 3 Comments

It’s become an annual event. Once a year we open our house and studio to all for a weekend of art. In a sense it’s an inventory sale.

A Few Recent Portraits

October 14th, 2008 11 Comments

Commissions have been in focus these last several months, and of those, a good number have been portraits. Portraits: always the most challenging of paintings. Many artists won’t attempt them, and it was awhile before I would. Now it’s a regular thing. Click the link for samples, with their stories…as well as opportunity to get one yourself, and info about our annual Open House and Show coming up.

Sandstone Gallery Features Anne Moore

September 3rd, 2008 4 Comments

Once again, Anne Moore will be the featured artist at Sandstone Gallery in Laguna Beach. The opening is tomorrow evening, during the ever-festive Art Walk. Come if you can. Also this month Hyatt Moore will be featured as guest lecturer-demonstrator at the San Clemente Art Association. You’re invited to that, too. Then, classes are starting again at the Moore&Moore Art studio. For info on all this, and a sample of some fine art, lean in and visit the e-gallery. (How easy is that!)

Paintings at the Gallery in Orange

August 16th, 2008 2 Comments

There’s a show this evening in the city of Orange and you’re invited. Gallery on Glassell in “Old Town” has been carrying my work for a number of years. I know it’s short notice, particularly for those of you a thousand miles away, but I thought I’d at least share a few pieces that will be on display. Call it a moment for aesthetics and be enriched.

The Intrigue of the Cross

July 23rd, 2008 14 Comments

Last time we featured Anne’s work at the Laguna Festival of Arts. The show continues through the summer. Don’t miss it. This weekend only there’s another show featuring my work (along with others’). I’ll have a lot of pieces, many subjects and good prices. It’s in Newport Beach. Address and times are at the bottom of this e-gallery. Hope to see you there.

The long anticipated show is upon us and you’re all invited. The Festival of Arts in Laguna Beach is a prestigious event where every year hundreds of artist compete and only a few new ones are accepted. After years of applying for both of us, this year Anne was accepted. Take five minutes and see why.

Quick Draw in the Park, Another Perspective

June 19th, 2008 15 Comments

Every year about this time the San Clemente Art Association sponsors a plein air competition. Painters, including me, have been painting San Clemente this week which will culminate this Saturday with a show and sale. Included will be at least one ala prima painted during the “quick draw.” Take a minute and check it out. (Or take an hour and drop by on Saturday.)

More Museum Muses

June 1st, 2008 11 Comments

Here are a few more of the “Women from the Back” theme before we move on. Not that this theme will ever be done, having enough intrigue to last a life time (as with everything else). Once again, the paintings here had their genesis in London’s National Portrait Gallery, and in the case of one, some preliminary thumbnail sketches are shown that were used in their making. Happy looking at these lookers, and over their shoulders.

“Movement in Cadmium” and “San Juan Vaquero”

May 13th, 2008 18 Comments

We left off last time with my introducing a new genre, “Women from the Back.” I showed a couple, along with the drawings that preceded them. In this issue I show another, one that I didn’t see coming myself. It’s pretty dramatic. Then there’s another large piece, from an altogether different genre, “Cowboys from the Side”? Take a five-minute look and tell me what you think. PS I’ll be in Boca Raton, Florida this week, doing some painting as “performance.” Maybe more on that another day…
