There’s a show this evening in the city of Orange and you’re invited. Gallery on Glassell in “Old Town” has been carrying my work for a number of years. I know it’s short notice, particularly for those of you a thousand miles away, but I thought I’d at least share a few pieces that will be on display. Call it a moment for aesthetics and be enriched.

Last time we featured Anne’s work at the Laguna Festival of Arts. The show continues through the summer. Don’t miss it. This weekend only there’s another show featuring my work (along with others’). I’ll have a lot of pieces, many subjects and good prices. It’s in Newport Beach. Address and times are at the bottom of this e-gallery. Hope to see you there.

The long anticipated show is upon us and you’re all invited. The Festival of Arts in Laguna Beach is a prestigious event where every year hundreds of artist compete and only a few new ones are accepted. After years of applying for both of us, this year Anne was accepted. Take five minutes and see why.

Every year about this time the San Clemente Art Association sponsors a plein air competition. Painters, including me, have been painting San Clemente this week which will culminate this Saturday with a show and sale. Included will be at least one ala prima painted during the “quick draw.” Take a minute and check it out. (Or take an hour and drop by on Saturday.)

Here are a few more of the “Women from the Back” theme before we move on. Not that this theme will ever be done, having enough intrigue to last a life time (as with everything else). Once again, the paintings here had their genesis in London’s National Portrait Gallery, and in the case of one, some preliminary thumbnail sketches are shown that were used in their making. Happy looking at these lookers, and over their shoulders.

We’ve been grateful for the response to the first blog, published two weeks ago. It was about drawing and how that’s generally the basis for painting. Continuing that theme, this issue displays a couple of recent drawings that went on to become paintings, and one example Anne’s work, which involved no drawing at all. Take a moment to enjoy the art.
