Thought I’d share these thoughts as they came to me the other day. Don’t know if that had anything to do with my recently perusing the contents of a book in the Brisbane airport on “Ten Ways to Succeed,” long on the New York Times Bestseller List.<\/p>\n
Would be good \u201cWhat?\u201d Hardly aspirations for the successful life.<\/p>\n But there it is\u2014the starting point.<\/p>\n It’s an upside down world we’re called to. I’m trying to fathom the meaning. Maybe as I put them into action, then I’ll better know.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n ___________ It’s an upside down world we’re called to, or is it right side up? \nTo start right over again.
\nGo back to the beginnings,
\nTo Christianity 1-A,
\nGo see what Jesus said.
\nAnd not just said, but first said,
\nAt the beginnings of his formal teaching
\nTo those most earnest to follow,
\nWhere he sat on the mountain
\nAnd uttered truths most basic.
\nThings most important to get,
\nIn terms easy to remember.
\nAnd what do I find . . .
\nBut words most attractive to avoid?
\nA list of aspirations, NOT!
\nAnd I say, \u201cReally, is this for me?\u201d
\nBe poor in spirit,<\/em> \u201cWhat?\u201d
\nMourn<\/em>,
\nBe meek,
\nHunger and thirst to be good.
\n<\/em>Show mercy,
\nBe pure,
\nMake peace,
\nMaltreatment for right action, accept.
\n<\/em><\/p>\n
