I was musing again, as often, on what to do next. When I’ve got a commission it’s not an issue, or a to-do list that won’t quit. Then I know what to do. And, often as not, I’m wishing I could get beyond all that so I could \u201cdo what I want.\u201d But then, when that moment comes, I wonder what that would be.<\/p>\n

Interesting dilemma, no? So human.<\/p>\n

So I take it to God, to get beyond the \u201chuman,\u201d and he says, \u201cBelieve.\u201d<\/p>\n

Believe? \u201cYes, just believe.\u201d<\/p>\n

Believe what?<\/p>\n

\u201cAll you know. Me. That I’m here . . . am all you need.\u201d<\/p>\n

Like that.<\/p>\n

Sounds a little . . . what . . . too basic . . . too lofty?<\/p>\n

Both?<\/p>\n

Then I remember that belief<\/em> is both the entry qualification to the kingdom as well as the basis for the highest activity in it.<\/p>\n

But I want to do things, big things, important things, useful things, legacy things.\u00a0Or, if none of those, at least \u201csomething.\u201d<\/p>\n

To all that, God just says, \u201cI know . . . it’s all very human. But just believe.\u201d<\/p>\n

And then phrases come to my memory like:<\/p>\n

He who comes to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

And . . .<\/p>\n

The work of God is to believe on the one who he sent.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

And . . .<\/p>\n

Abraham believed God and it was his highest attribute.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

I remember the list of the heroes of faith who believed til the end of their lives without seeing the culmination of their faith and are not only credited for it, but were defined by it (and, by the way, often ended up doing \u201cbig things.\u201d)<\/p>\n

How are we different?<\/p>\n

So believe, Hyatt. Just believe.<\/p>\n

It’s the unbeliever that gets befuddled.<\/p>\n

I know, I’ve been there.<\/p>\n

I’ll take it as today’s word . . . and believe it.<\/p>\n
