Here’s another from the\u00a0Ecclesiastical\u00a0Rubik’s Cube:
\nPatience is better than pride.<\/strong>*<\/p>\n

Okay. Sounds true. But what’s the connection? We might just as well say, “A bowl of ice cream is better than a bucket of tar.” They’re not connected.<\/p>\n

So what is it about patience and pride that links them together?<\/p>\n

Except that they’re opposites.<\/p>\n

Note:<\/p>\n

Pride doesn’t see the whole picture but forges ahead anyway.
\nPatience doesn’t see the whole picture either, but it knows it doesn’t.<\/p>\n

Pride considers no weakness, brooks no compromise, sees no obstacle.
\nPatience understands weakness, that it’s a human condition.<\/p>\n

Pride slows for nothing.
\nPatience does not hurry.<\/p>\n

Pride has no patience with patience.
\nPatience has patience even with the proud.<\/p>\n

Between them there’s a continuous loop, a mobius strip: Patience fights pride fights patience fights pride and on an on until one prevails . . .
\nat least for awhile.<\/p>\n

Even in movies it’s a common plot: The progenitor\u00a0who is proud is always brought low while the humble, in the end, is raised up.<\/p>\n

I’ve always been glad for those who have shown patience with me (including when I’ve been proud).<\/p>\n
