Here’s one you may not want to take time for . . . or just read bits. It’s something I’ve often thought about sharing. If you write a blog there’s a phenomena you may be familiar with; if not, you’ll find it at least amusing.<\/p>\n
Every time I post a blog I receive comments. It’s a reward, really, and an affirmation that people are reading, and thinking. But I also receive numerous comments from spammers. You don’t see these as I have the option to not post them. Thank God for that. Though written by humans (of whatever first language) they’re distributed automatically. Their purpose, I understand, is to hope for mindless acceptance and thereby gain wider exposure to their site’s popularity and thus higher placement on search engines.<\/p>\n
I might be tempted to write back to them, but I have no certainty anyone would be reading. They’d probably write me off as spam.<\/p>\n
Sometimes they’re particularly humorous because of the coincidence of the blog topic they’re responding to. Almost always they’re written with such heartfelt sincerity<\/span> and positive regard<\/span>, in hopes that would give them a better chance to be “approved” and posted. And while their English isn’t always that good, they know it well enough to write, which is more than I can do with their language.<\/p>\n I relate these comments exactly as they came to me<\/span>, though have deleted their websites. (Sorry, everybody.)<\/p>\n SAMPLE SPAMS<\/p>\n This one likes how I operate . . .<\/strong><\/em> Here’s one<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0affirming “just right task” (which I think means “good job”) . . . I often get offers to get me at the top of Google. But this one would warn against it . . .<\/em><\/strong> An idiom glitch, apparently looking forward to seeing me . . .\u00a0<\/strong><\/em> I’m grateful for the compliment on my content, I think . . .<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong> Here’s one exposing\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>my lack of self-assurity, but forgivingly . . . Here’s a new library convenience offer? Magnificent! . . .<\/strong><\/em> This refers to\u00a0Rich Site Summary<\/span>, a web-feed service for blogs (otherwise I might worry about the clutching) . . .<\/strong><\/em> I’m always grateful for constructive criticism . . .<\/strong><\/em> And brevity . . .<\/strong><\/em> This perceptive friend has given me a new title, and high motive (though for customers, not patients). Anybody need a prescription? . . .<\/strong><\/em> Or if not a prescription, how about a “beneficial formula”? . . .<\/strong><\/em> Covering all bases . . .<\/strong><\/em> I have no idea where this one’s coming from, or where they think I’m coming from . . .<\/strong><\/em> This came in after “A Time for Everything” . . .<\/strong><\/em> This one after “Rebuke’s Gift” . . .<\/em><\/strong> From one who’s written before, and always so positive . . .<\/em><\/strong> Sometimes I wonder if the author’s title has been cut off . . . but we’re now bound together . . .<\/strong><\/em> Sometimes the author’s title is very, very specific . . . here with more constructive criticism . . .<\/strong><\/em> This one had no author. Too bad, I might have qualified, being wedded . . .<\/strong><\/em> This one, existential . . .<\/strong><\/em> I get a lot from “Fake Rolexes.” This one in response to “All is Vanity” . . . glad it’s delicious . . .<\/em><\/strong> Seems even a fake rolex should be shock proof (fortunate him) . . .<\/strong><\/em> Such erudition and care can go into these things, and family sharing . . .\u00a0<\/strong><\/em> A trade? “Grant Applications” for “Facebook Likes”? (didn’t know you could buy them) . . .<\/strong><\/em> Another with constructive criticism, embedded with over the top praise . . .<\/strong><\/em> A nice compliment, followed by a sincere question. But why the final “laughing out loud”? . . .<\/em><\/strong> An alluring title. So warm a greeting. And so perceptive I blush . . .<\/em><\/strong> Another intriguing title. Didn’t know I needed any info about awards, but here’s more (almost all?) . . .<\/em><\/strong> The answer, “twice a week” . . .<\/em><\/strong> I so wish I could return the compliment to this one . . .<\/em><\/strong> From the same wedding planner? . . .<\/em><\/strong> Here’s an honest appraisal.
