{"id":3729,"date":"2012-08-06T09:43:05","date_gmt":"2012-08-06T16:43:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hyattmoore.com\/blank-slate\/?p=3729"},"modified":"2012-08-06T10:41:35","modified_gmt":"2012-08-06T17:41:35","slug":"a-handful-with-tranquility","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hyattmoore.com\/blank-slate\/2012\/08\/06\/a-handful-with-tranquility\/","title":{"rendered":"A Handful with Tranquility"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hyattmoore.com\/blank-slate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Chasing-Wind-115.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3949\" title=\"Chasing-Wind-115\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hyattmoore.com\/blank-slate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Chasing-Wind-115.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"115\" height=\"122\" \/><\/a><\/h6>\n<p>I knew of a lady who gave a million dollars away saying, \u201cThat money never caused us anything but grief.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Maybe she found she could buy back some happiness after all.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe she came across the truth:\u00a0<strong>Better one handful with tranquility than two handfuls with toil and chasing after wind<\/strong>.*<\/p>\n<p>Maybe she tired of chasing wind.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a truth that deep down we know, but there&#8217;s an intrigue that says \u201cMaybe it wouldn&#8217;t happen with me,\u201d and our mind stays preoccupied with how to fill that second hand.<\/p>\n<p>In time we learn again that <em>having<\/em> isn&#8217;t the ultimate state, unless it&#8217;s <em>having peace<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s natural to desire both hands full, but then where&#8217;s the free hand to do anything else?<\/p>\n<p>And we like to be free.<\/p>\n<p>Too much to keep track of can kill our contentment.<\/p>\n<p>And without contentment there&#8217;s nothing else that matters.<\/p>\n<p>If, when I go to write my goals I include \u201cCatch the wind,\u201d at least I&#8217;ll know at the end of the day the source of that ennui.<\/p>\n<p>Peace is life&#8217;s ultimate state.
