Meantime, Beautify

June 4th, 2014

We have no new news on Vernon. He’s still in a coma, undergoing various bone operations, now also on dialysis for his kidneys, and they’re watching the onset of pneumonia. For ongoing updates and a way to contribute, go to the website dedicated for this, here. I will also update at moments.

Also, we have not finished the series featuring my parents’ history and stories. We’ll get back to that shortly, too.

Meantime, here’s a brief meditation for us artists (and by that I’m including just about everybody). It comes from quick notes jotted in my sketch book, inspired by a segment from Psalms:

The highest heavens belong to the Lord,
But the earth he has given to man.*

Ok then (says I), Get to work.
What is your role? To beautify?

Ok then . . . Get your orders: Make earth like heaven.
(That’s beautiful.)

Pick up where Ray Frieze left off, or Robert Heindel, or S. C. Yuan.**

Give up your small ambitions . . .

Whatever things be noble, whatever things be lovely, whatever things be admirable . . . produce these things.

Begin again every morning.

Ok Lord . . . reporting for duty.

Thank you, Hyatt…. loving this. I, though not an artist in the usual sense, have my marching orders too and will continue to report for duty with an open heart!

Thanks, Hyatt! A reminder that we all have our own way of producing our own special way. Mine is not the kind of art that hangs on a wall to be admired, but it is mine.

Hyatt, as you bless us with astounding encouragement, may you be doubly blessed! Such a good way to think about approaching each day; reporting to the CEO/COO of BOC COMPANY (Body of Christ Company)!
Prayers for you, Anne, and your family.

Sorry to hear about Vernon. (*hugs*) and prayers to you and your family. Thanks for posting the encouragement today, I needed to hear this. I’m going through a, “What difference does it make?” phase. If we stop looking on the bright side, we’ll go blind to the goodness and beauty God creates. I can’t fix what’s wrong in the world, but I can focus on the good, and paint it in a beautiful light. It makes a difference.

Really feeling for you guys right now. My brother & sister-in-law had a motorcycle accident several years ago with several parallels to Vernon’s situation–everything from weeks of touch-and-go waiting to their daughter being exactly the same age (years & months) as Justine. Praying for his 100% recovery.

Says it all, Hyatt. Thanks for sharing. And, for Vernon, we’ll “keep praying, and not give up.”

thank you Hyatt for taking time to encourage us to make art as the poeima of God; in a million little ways we are gifted to beautify our world.

Still knock, knock, knocking on heaven’s door for Vernon and you all…
